Shah Rukh Khan, the badshah of bollywood who plays the character of Rizwan Khan in Karan Johar’s upcoming flick ‘My Name Is Khan’ opposite ravishing Kajol, is all set to storm the silver screen with first trailers coming from this Friday.
The trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s mega- budget flick ‘My Name is Khan’ will run with James Cameron’s latest flick ‘Avatar’ from this Friday across the country. Fox Star, the company which has bought the distribution rights of the film, intends to release the flick in forty countries (outside India) with 600 prints on February 12 next year.
This number is the largest for any Hindi movie from bollywood so far, especially for overseas territories. The film will also see a premiere on the same day at renowned Berlin Film Festival in Germany, where it will compete for attention with the likes of Martin Scorsese’s ‘Shutter Island’.
Another encouraging feature for the Karan Johar-Shah Rukh Khan film ‘My Name Is Khan’ is that it will get a huge international market due to Fox star strategy of releasing the flick in other languages(besides Hindi) too across the globe. This will help in curbing the piracy- inspired damage to the magnum opus’ collection at the box office.
Shah Rukh Khan will be pairing with Kajol after a gap of eight years. The two stars have always created magic on screen through their seasoned acting and expectations are no different this time. The audiences still remember their sparkling chemistry in Yashraj’s ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ to Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’.
Even Karan Johar’s direction has never failed with Shah Rukh Khan. In fact, they have always scorched the silver screen with their masterly work. Just recall the films like ‘Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai’, ‘Kaal’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’, etc, and you will realize the worth of their working relationship.
However, there is a school of thought in bollywood which sees the release date of February as unfavorable for a big release like Shah Rukh’s ‘My Name is Khan’. Their contention is that most school examinations will be taking place at that time (exams have been pushed back to February from March throughout the country from this year) and so the younger population will be too busy to visit theatres to watch the flick.
