Earlier this week, we had told you about the upcoming Honda CB Twister – and it is here, now.
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India launched its first bike in the entry level motorcycle segment with the 110 cc CB Twister today.
The price of the Honda CB Twister is Rs 42,000, ex-showroom Delhi. The company expects to sell around 220,000 units of the Twister in the Indian market in its first year.
The 110 cc single cylinder air-cooled engine of the Twister produces 9 bhp at 8000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 9 Nm at 6000 rpm. The motorcycle offers an estimated fuel efficiency of 70 kmpl, and meets Bharat Stage III norms.
At the low end of the motorcycle market in India, what is often lacking is style and sophistication – and Honda hopes that its brand image and reputation for quality would be welcomed by the mass market. Currently, Hero Honda rules the low-end motorcycle market in India with its Passion Pro and other motorcycles, but the Twister is bound to make life miserable for Hero Honda.
The CB Twister is available in three variants which are named rather plainly: Kick Drum Alloy, Self Drum Alloy and Self Disc Alloy. The price of Rs 42,000 is for the Kick Drum Alloy version. Officially, prices will be announced only on the 5th of January, when the Auto Expo 2010 begins. The higher variants of the Twister will be priced higher too – expect around Rs 45,000 for the Self Disc Alloy version ex-showroom.
The Honda CB Twister is a classy looking bike, at least by the standards of the 110cc motorcycle market with its black front cowl, side cowls and a compact muffler with a short tail end. The chain drive is only half covered – always more stylish, and always more painful maintenance – especially in the monsoons.
The Honda CB Twister is available in five colours: Pearl Amber Yellow, Candy Sonic Green, Pearl Nightstar Black, Pearl Siena Red and Pearl Fuji Blue. The colour options are available for all variants of the Twister.
Deliveries of the CB Twister will start in February 2010.
Honda’s Indian operations have just launched the new Honda CB Twister in India, a 110cc 4-stroke air-cooled motorcycle which will be sold at about 42,000 Rupee, which translates to about RM3,063. 110cc motorcycles account for about half of total motorcycle sales in India, and India is expectedly the world’s second largest motorcycle market behind China. Honda sells nearly a million motorcycles each year in India alone, and the new CB Twister is expected to account for 220,000 units a year.
Honda claims the new CB Twister will return us a mileage figure of 70kmpl.

About superior 4 -valve DTS-i engine in Pulsar 135LS
A 4-Valve engine is designed for better performance than regular a 2-Valve engine. Combined with the revolutionary DTS-i (Digital Twin Spark-ignition) technology which maximizes combustion to deliver enhanced power and superior mileage with low emissions, the Pulsar 135 LS has one of the most efficient production engines ever.
1. More power: The 4 valve provides for a greater intake and exhaust area resulting in more power, almost equivalent a 2 valve 150cc engine.
2. Sustained top end power: The light-weight character of the four smaller valves (as opposed to two heavier valves), which allow the engine to effortlessly rev to an eye-popping 10,500 rpm (electronically limited)!
3. Sporty ride: Given the wider rpm band, the engine can be revved hard and high in each gear resulting in a genuine sporty ride.
4. More Mileage: Established superiority of DTS-i blended with 4 valve not only enhances the performance but also returns a very good fuel economy (68.1 km/l certified by ARAI)
5. More green: Comfortably meets BSIII regulations.
