The Barclays 2010: Jim Furyk Disqualified for Missing Tee-Time
America’s Jim Furyk was unfortunately disqualified from The Barclays 2010 golf tournament on Wednesday, after he showed up late for the 7:30 AM start to the Pro-Am. The reason for his lateness – he reportedly overslept, after the alarm on his cell phone didn’t go off!!
According to Hank Gola at nydailynews.com, Slugger White – PGA Tour rules official – said that they began searching for Furyk about 30 minutes before the Pro-Am was due to start. Furyk was scheduled to begin on the eleventh tee. White said they had even tried calling him.
Furyk says that his cell phone battery went dead, so his alarm didn’t wake him. The golfer said he awoke at 7:23, which didn’t leave him enough time to get there. You can read more via nydailynews.com. What do you think of the PGA’s decision to disqualify Furyk?
