Did she? Didn’t she? Kiss, that is. That’s the hot topic of debate occupying immense media space of late.
But Shazahn Padamsee, the daughter of ad guru Alyque Padamsee and singer Sharon Prabhakar, who debuts with Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year, has had enough of it. And although Ranbir Kapoor’s denying the kiss, Shazahn says, “I don’t know why such a big deal is being made out of it. It’s just a fleeting shot.”
So, how has Alyque reacted to her big screen debut? “It’s hard to please him. More than anyone else, I’m waiting for his opinion as he introduced me to acting. I’ve been assisting him on his plays since I was a child. Everyone’s very proud and ecstatic about my debut. Theatre runs in the family, but acting (in films) is a new thing for us,” explains Shazahn. But theatre will take a back seat for now. “I just did one play. If I want to do another, it’ll be one hell of a play. It’s just films for now as everything is looking positive,” says Shazahn.
With Ranbir playing the title role, Rocket Singh essentially is his film. Why did she choose it as her launch pad? Says Shazahn, “Shimit (Amin) is my dream director and Ranbir’s on a roll. There were also Aditya and Yash Chopra — my mentors.” Her friends were excited that she worked with Ranbir, Bollywood’s current heart-throb. What’s her impression of him? “Ranbir is very professional and so hard-working that he inspired me to work hard. Luckily, he didn’t play any pranks on me as I hate them,” she smiles.
As Alyque and Sharon’s daughter, she comes with a certain pedigree and expectations. Will she surrender to the lure of item numbers and mindless comedies? “Item number… well, if it’s shot aesthetically. As for comedies, if it’s a good film, I will,” she reveals.
