All arrangements are in place at the Bara Shaheed dargah located on the banks of the Nellore tank for the annual Rottela Panduga festival which is scheduled to begin on December 28. Expected more than three lakh devotees for the three day festival and the civic body had been entrusted with the job of attending to their needs. Nellore mayor indicated to plans to set up an information centre, makeshift toilets, drinking water taps and bathing ghats. They would post sanitary workers to maintain hygiene round the clock. The main event of the three day festival, the Gandhotsavam (applying sandal paste to tombs) will be held on December 29 under the supervision of Kadapa Pedda Dargah peetadipathi Syed Shah Arifulla Hussaini. Devotees will exchange rotis in lieu of their fulfilled desires at the Nellore tank on December 30. The festival will conclude with tahlil fateha (final ritual) on the last day of the year, December 31. In view of heavy inflow of vehicles into the town, the police have been proposing traffic diversions in the town from December 27. Vehicles will not be allowed between the Podalakur road centre to D.K. Women’s college from Sunday. The police parade grounds and A.C. Subba Reddy stadium will be earmarked for parking of vehicles coming from outside.
